My week last week was crazy slammed with work stuff. You know the kind of week, where you just feel like a ginormous stress ball? Right? Well my husband J has learned by now that when I am feeling that way, the best thing to cure me is some quality time with him and ice cream.
Last week we went all out with this “stress relief tactic” with a date to Bobbie’s Dairy Dip. As the name implies this is a delightful place where you order at a window, sit outside on brightly painted tables, and listen to oldies over the speaker while you await your fried pickles or “James Brown” milkshake (a chai, chocolate, & coffee concoction, my fave!).

I wanted to wear the refashioned blouse I told you how to make here, and decided to pair it with an old thrifted pair of pink shorts, some “new” shoes from Marti & Liz, and a few touches of accessories, some handmade (by moi!) and some from Francesca’s Collections.
J and I had yet to eat dinner, so we decided to share a meal AND a large milkshake. As I went up to place my order, I was excited to find out that they have not one, but TWO veggie burger options! We got one of each, sweet potato fries, and the Barney Rubble milkshake – an ice cream, chocolate, oreo dream!

Awwwwww. Aren’t we just adorable? ![]()
This was such a great stress reliving break! It gave me the focus and energy I needed to finish all my work (3 days, 55 hours of working, 15 hours of sleep later…but I digress)!
When I get to working on a project I tend to zone and not be able to do anything else without thinking about how I need to be doing said project. For those of you who don’t already know, that is not the most effective way to work. As Strongbad once said (I LOVED those videos in high school…and college…and still go watch some for a laugh now and then)… “My focus is all crocus.”
When I, like Strongbad, feel that “my focus is all crocus”, I know it’s time for a break. Perhaps I should have titled this post “Peace & Ice Cream…and Strongbad”! HA!
I finished all my work (finally, thank goodness), and am now all about celebrating my BIRTHDAY!! (it’s today!)
I may have definitely worn this shirt AGAIN for my surprise party last night. I just like it so much! If YOU like it too, you can go to this post where I showed you how to make it!
Here is the cost breakdown of my outfit:
- Thrifted Pink Old Navy Shorts - $1.99
- Thrifted & Refashioned Cream Blouse -$3.99
- Nine West Gold Shoes $12.99
- Handmade Peace Signs and Mixed Metal Bead Bracelets - $5.99 (cost of supplies to make)
- Francesca’s Collections Gold Rings - $0.99 (super markdown!)

What do you do to unwind / de-stress? And how often do you think it’d be good to do? (In my case, I’d like to have ice cream every week! ;P)
