Hi you guys!!

Funny headline, no? I can just see my mother and mother-in-law freaking out that you, dear readers, knew before they knew. Ha!

(Note to self: call moms and apologize for any anxiety caused).

No, I am not pregnant. This metaphorically titled post is to tell you about my first time “out on my own”, so to speak, as a stylist/costume designer.

I (Ashley) got the opportunity to do the wardrobe styling and costume design for a book trailer of my dear friend and author Vanessa Frank‘s book, Destiny’s Chase.

It’s an incredible Christian fiction novella, a genre I am usually wary of, but after reading the book I was so moved by it’s unique approach to Christianity and love, that I knew I had to be a part of the project!

I got to style several different modern day outfits, which I love to do of course. I love being able to bring a character to life through their wardrobe! Shopped for these looks at local vintage stores, thrift stores, as well as friends’ (and my) closets!

I made/assembled several costumes representative of ancient times…

I even got to design and make from scratch a renaissance inspired gown with a corset! Can you say, “definitely not beginner’s sewing”? :P

I had quite the work load for the 3 weeks of pre-production, and luckily Ellen was able to spare a couple of days to help me with some painting and some costume assembly!

Now that the trailer and the book have been released I am oh-so-excitedly sharing it with everyone (and that includes YOU!)

If you are interested in purchasing the book, you can click here.

And please, do yourself (and me!) a favor and watch the trailer embedded at the top of this post!

Thank you! :)
